In 2010 the Spirit Racing Team was born. The academy race team known for 2021 as Spirit Tifosi BSS Rotor has steadily progressed and grown substantially in the subsequent years. We are now firmly established as one of the strongest elite amateur teams in the UK and Europe.
COVID-19 devastated the sport and our racing was cut short in March 2020. However we did perform extremely well in the only UCI Continental Race we managed to squeeze in before lockdown. This was the International Tour of Rhodes were we finished 20th and 8th on the Queen stage against a top quality field of professional teams.
Post COVID restrictions we will have an extremely talented team with 13 riders along with support volunteers and helpers. We will have one of the strongest race calendars of any UK based team going forward incorporating many UCI Europe Tour sanctioned events.
Our focus now will be to enhance our status as we move up to the new British Cycling Elite status in 2021, in which we are one of only a handful of teams our federation will consider for this level of recognition. However, moving forward with the support of our current sponsors and some extra sponsorship being sought and hopefully secured, we will look to go UCI Continental no later than 2023.
This is the summit of the status we have looked to achieve for our model and only the best can look to this badge and meet the requirements laid down by our federation and the UCI, The world governing body of competitive cycling.
The projects key focus continues on developing riders in the sport of cycling and also mentoring, whilst providing the platform to compete in the UK's biggest races and the invites we receive in the UCI Europe, Asia and African Tours. These will include the current HSBC UK Elite Road Series and Elite circuit series. With our impressive race calendar we will equip riders to race at all levels and give them the platform and shop window to be scouted at times. We have to move one or two onto the bigger pro Continental teams in time, with the ultimate prize of gaining a World Tour contract or our model has failed. The networking we have developed within the bigger teams has already meant enquiries for our riders are being made.
As a Brand Ambassador for our sponsors and a solid base for up and coming future stars Spirit Tifosi BSS Rotor continues to surpass all our targets year on year with a tiny budget in comparison to our peers. At the heart of our ethos is a strong team work ethic, with the emphasis being on team bonding, fun and development throughout the season. We win and will continue to exceed our expectations numerous times whilst growing as a strong team with a model that ensures our future year on year.
We are well set to continue this upward trend in 2021 and we hope you enjoy supporting us along the road.
